The existent star triumphed within the Oscars that year,
taking home the most effective thespian gong for her role in Monsters Ball, and
believed it'd "open doors" for actors and actresses from various
backgrounds.
Speaking regarding the contestation close this year's
ceremony due to the dearth of black actors nominative in any of the classes,
she said: "I believed that in this moment, that after I aforesaid [in my
acceptance speech], 'The door tonight has been opened,' I believed that with
each bone in my body that this was progressing to incite modification as a
result of this door, this barrier, had been broken.
